The Cummings were just an average family Harry was just 29 and worked as a sound engineer for a broadcasting studio in the city. Ethel was 27 and had been a schoolteacher before she was married. Now she was kept pretty busy between writing the great American novel and taking care of Judy, their 7 year old daughter. This was the first year they had rented a house in the country for the summer and Ethel didn’t take much to the idea of being alone in the evenings.
